"...Even if they have not understood every word, the fifth and
sixth-form pupils had a lot of fun. White Horse Theatre not only
offers an easily understood story, it also uses gestures and
mimicry in order to aid understanding. The children rapidly lost
their shyness over the foreign language. They listened, answered
questions, and even gave poor Billy tips. One girl even let herself
to be scolded by the hysterical teacher, Mrs Snootly – and then
just quietly sat down again.
The authentic English pronunciation, British humour, a lot of gags
and comical scenes – it all delighted the children. Their excitement
knew no bounds when Gerald came into the audience to gather
baseball caps and other belongings. English isn't that bad, is what
the boys and girls probably thought. There was enormous applause
for the four actors."
